Zugspitze and Eibsee

At 2,962 meters, the Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany and offers spectacular panoramas and a wide range of leisure activities. The new cable car, which has been in operation since December 2017, overcomes the world's greatest difference in altitude of 1,945 meters in one section and sets three world records: the highest structural steel support, the longest free span and the greatest difference in altitude. The modern, floor-to-ceiling glass cabins ensure comfortable rides and breathtaking views of the mountains and Lake Eibsee.

Lake Eibsee: a picturesque Alpine lake jewel

The Eibsee is picturesquely situated at the foot of the Zugspitze and is known for its crystal-clear water and impressive surroundings. The lake covers an area of around 2.2 square kilometers and offers an approximately 7-kilometer-long lakeside path that is ideal for hiking and walking. In summer, you can enjoy swimming, canoeing and stand-up paddling, while snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are on the program in winter.

Protection and sustainability

Lake Eibsee is also a nature reserve that is protected by strict environmental protection measures. The water quality of the lake is regularly monitored to ensure that the ecological balance is maintained. The protection of the water and the surrounding nature is of central importance in order to preserve the beauty and health of this unique natural area for future generations.

The connection between Zugspitze and Eibsee

The cable car, which starts at Lake Eibsee, connects the majestic Zugspitze with the idyllic Alpine lake. This combination offers visitors the opportunity to experience the impressive height of the Zugspitze and the natural tranquillity of Lake Eibsee. The cable car ride provides an unforgettable view of the surrounding Alpine landscape and makes the visit a unique experience.
